About the Author
Soren Kierkegaard (1813-1855) lived in Copenhagen, Denmark. His books include Works of Love and Spiritual Writings (translated and edited by George Pattison).
Alastair Hannay is an emeritus professor of philosophy at the University of Oslo. Besides several works on Kierkegaard, including a biography, he has previously translated six volumes of Kierkegaard's writings.

The reviewer who says it should not be read in isolation is correct. It is atrociously boring, so boring, I could barely finish it and I am not a novice, but a literature professor.
