This is a great resource for understanding Private Capital. It is extremely useful for business leaders to better understand the world of financing related to financing in the small and middle markets. This is a companion resource to the author's Encyclopedia of Entertainment Finance. I found the Kindle version especially useful because it has working links throughout the document that make it easy to follow.

Still trying to cool off after reading this book!

Hot, hot, hot!!!! This book has it all! Steamy sex scenes, betrayal, karma, family drama, and did I mention steamy sex scenes...... It's an amazing quick read and I recommend you read it in private. I'm not responsible for those who don't heed my advice!

Allie is confident and sexy. She grabs life and men (sometimes women too) by the balls. She’s unapologetic about her sexuality, has her head on straight and flies through one night stands without the complications of catching feelings. And she’s about to meet her match.
Jax has just graduated and has had a very easy life. Everything seems to have just been handed to him. Good looks, friends, money, grades and girls. He’s a rebel without a cause and a playboy who doesn’t need to take life seriously. And he’s about to meet his match.
So what happens when two unapologetic players get together? FIRE! As the two get together their chemistry burns off the pages in a no holds barred game of sexually one-upping the other. The sex is insanely HOT and raw and unrelenting and neither can forget it.
It’s not until Allie’s secret is revealed that things start to fall apart.
This is a short book and it always amazes me when an author can get me invested in their characters with so few words, but I loved these two and I took great pleasure in watching them tripping over their feelings for each other.
I wouldn’t call this a traditional stepbrother romance but I don’t want to give too much away. I enjoyed the angle the author took here and I absolutely adored Allie. She was no virginal wilting wall flower and she took what she wanted. As the aggressor in this story, she’s not a good person and neither is he, I loved that about them. I was kept guessing at her endgame right until the end. Definitely recommended!

Hot & Complicated

Jax is true playboy who can't seem to keep it in his pants. He has money and gets what he wants and getting what he wants all the time has left him with no joy in his life, "he's bored." His father is set to remarry before the ink has even dried on the divorce papers and Jax is not happy about this. Not only does the marriage come with a new step mother, it also comes with a new step sister.

Allie is smart, funny, bold and very secure in her sexuality. She catches Jax's eye and BOOM! they are out the door and in a cab and in Allie's hotel room in no time. The connection is instant and it changes the two of them. They want each other and they are damn good together but what Jax doesn't know is that Allie is his soon to be step sister.

I enjoyed this story, it was quick and to the point. I really would have liked to see more though. The ending was a little abrupt for me. I wanted to see what happens next, with the parents especially. But even without it, it's still a good read.

Full of practical advice to help you prevent Alzheimer's

My grandmother had Alzheimer's in her later years. I remember my mother and I visiting her and my uncle said to Grandma, "Your daughter Ruth is here", and she replied, "Ruth, Ruth? I don't have a daughter named Ruth." It was very sad for all of us. Had we only known earlier that this could have been prevented.

Dr. Jemison's book shows us that we truly can protect our brains and prevent Alzheimer's.

This book will show you everything you need to know to prevent Alzheimer's. It's easy to read. It's very practical with step by step instructions. I like the way it is organized and summarized at the end. Often so many health books overload the details (not that this is missing anything, it is very well researched) and at the end you end up confused, wondering what to do next. Not so with this book. You will know what to do. You can takes the steps needed, confident that you can prevent Alzheimer's.

Prevention is the goal....

Drink coffee, eat lots of organic veggies and fruits--especially berries, some healthy fats, exercise--walk, swim, dance. Relate positively with your social circle, keep your brain active, take vitamins and minerals. Stay away from toxins as much as possible, keep your weight under control.... If you do all these things, and others mentioned in the book, your chances are greatly diminished for getting Alzheimer's. Great advice and lots of good links to continue your inquiry.
A well done and well researched book,
and none of these recommendations can do anything But help your overall health.

A Quick Read and Worth It

Let me tell you why I enjoyed this book. First, it was a practical length. I want to avoid Alzheimer's but I'm not interested in becoming a world class expert. I would not have read a 300 page book on this subject.

I wanted the view from 30,000 feet and the instructions on how to land safely. That's what I got. There was plenty of meat to get a good sense of the disease but you don't have to be an MD or molecular biologist to understand it. And the steps recommended to avoid Alzheimer's were realistic, do-able and consistent with my own research on healthy lifestyles. You can take what's in this book and make some very real efforts to reduce the odds that you will be burdened with the curse of Alzheimer's.

I was an LPN in an OB/GYN office for 12 years and was involved with educating patients about HPV and the various procedures mentioned in the book. I wish this book had been available to me. I have learned a great deal from reading this book, and know I would have used all the information in this book to better educate our patients.
I hope this book is published and becomes available to students and patients, so they can be well informed about HPV.

An informative, easy to read, holistic offering designed for women of all ages. I like the clear explanation of research findings to discuss the "why?" and "how come?" I especially appreciate the "take charge" attitude of behavior change strategies. This book stresses over and over that we are partners in health care and we can be proactive in decreasing our personal risk of disease.

kids ask for these skits every day

I teach 6th-8th grade ESL. These skits are perfect for my classes, because they are short (less than ten minutes), very funny, active, and not too difficult. They cover lots of basic topics and vocabulary, like clothing, weather, food, etc. My kids ask for them every day, but I save them as treats for the end of each week. That way, the book lasts the entire school year. It also makes teaching fun for me!

I think the book is great for English learners,especially beginners.My Chinese English learners learn best when role plays are done in class.These small skits are very easy for them to understand and enjoy!The only problem is that I bought the e-book version and I can not print out any of the skits to do in class!There should be an option for this type of book on it being printable or not!

These skits are humorous and always have unexpected endings. They make learning English fun. I also use them for native speakers of English who might need some additional help or are just bored with textbooks. As a teacher, I enjoy reading them myself.

This Book Needs SIX Stars! Best, Easiest and Idiot Proof Way to Change the Way You Eat

I’ve had the paperback copy of Dr. Atkin’s original “Diet Revolution” since the early 1980s…at some point though I think it was donated to a charity. I was thrilled to find a hard copy! This book is the original plan by Dr. Atkins…it bears little resemblance to what the Atkins plan of today looks like, other than the “stages” are still there.

I have used this plan successfully in my life several times. This plan is easy, with no calorie counting, no quantity and portion restrictions as long as you stick to the correct amount of carbs in each stage. The whole idea is that you have to cut your carbs to zero for at least one week (though Dr. Atkin’s does recommend that you extend this induction week for as long as you are able) then start adding the carbs slowly back into your diet. By doing this, you are forcing your body to convert stored fat into energy.

This really works…Couple of recommendations:
• Take a really good multivitamin along with any other supplements/medications you normally take during the plan
• Have “go to” snacks ready and available so you are not tempted to snack on something not in the plan
• Make sure when you are purchasing food for the plan (NOT the Atkins pre-packaged stuff!) that you check the ingredients for “hidden carbs” (It is really hard to find bacon that has not been sugar cured – Kroger makes a low sodium hardwood smoked version that has no sugar or carbs)
• Mayonnaise means mayonnaise, NOT Miracle Whip which has sugar in it.
• Ketostix, especially for folks with Type 2 diabetes are a must. This is how you can tell whether you are doing this right.
• Don’t eat if you aren’t hungry….I cannot stress this enough!!! On my own, just making my own meals, I have always eaten when I am hungry. The concept that every human should eat three meals a day came from where?!! The fact is, (I’ve collected a lot of information from people in all walks of life about this idea) people are ALL different. Therefore, some folks would be better off eating almost constantly during their waking hours while at the other extreme end other folks are fine with just one meal a day. Don’t feel guilty if you are hungry….eat. And the reverse is true also – don’t allow others to pressure you into eating when you don’t want to.
• Don’t use margarine – that stuff is awful on so many levels. Use butter even if you have never used butter in your life.
• Mushrooms – these are not mentioned in the original book for the Induction week. I attribute the lack of mention to the fact that in the early 1970s mushrooms were not nearly as popular as they are today. So, it turns out that fresh regular white mushrooms are about .25 of a carb for ½ of a medium mushroom – so you can slice it thin and add it to your salad.
• Salad Dressing – use oil and vinegar – I tried reading about fifty labels on salad dressings and you are much better off just going with olive oil and vinegar. Use a good vinegar (for instance I found champagne vinegar with zero carbs) and you can still add dry spices such as oregano, sweet paprika, etc. Yum!
• Checking your weight – This applies to all efforts to lose weight…force yourself to weigh in only once a week. I find that I get more encouragement from taking measurements because those change faster. In fact, I don’t even own a scale…if you know yourself, you will know when you are the size you want to be. Leave the numbers for math!
• Cooking for others while on Dr. Atkins diet – The absolutely great thing about this diet is that if you have to prepare meals for others, the meats you use will be the same as the meats used to prepare food for others. Your plate may not look as “interesting” as the rest at the table but it does make it easier that you are not eating completely different foods than the people you may cook for.

I have used Dr. Atkin’s original 1972 diet several times in my life and am starting it again today. It’s an easy and quick way to lose 10-30 pounds quickly. The Atkins diet of today allows many more carbs than his original plan…the reason? Money, clear and simple. The Atkins company couldn’t sell so many of their “diet” products without folks being allowed more carbs. Because the foods you are supposed to use on the original diet are all fresh and natural (i.e. you can buy them at any grocery store) the Atkins company couldn’t make any money if they had stuck to the original plan. I have to wonder what Dr. Atkins would think of what his “diet revolution” has become since his passing in 2003.

The old diet plan that works

This is the original diet. My doctor and his colleagues of 6 did this for on three months off a month for 3 years. It worked for them! The secret is getting purple on the keto sticks and gradually adding carbs from there
The 'new' Atkins starts with 20+ grams of cargos so you never get into the 'zone' so people don't lose with the new Atkins and complain they don't lose.
People THINK they ar keeping carbs low but they don't
So do the original get the ketosis and you will see progress

LOVE THIS DIET...I recall doing this diet in my 20s (I am 45 years young) and I forgot all about it til I was getting DEPRESSED do to gaining 40lbs which I researched different diets and a lot of KETO posting was on Instagram...I did a google search on Keto and guess what popped up??? ATKINS...YAY....I started at 214.2 and I am now 191.6...its been slow but I am HAPPY!

See the Passover story and seder rituals in a new and humorous way

We have used skits from this book for the past two years for second night Passover seders. Since we've already had the first night to do a more traditional seder, we have used the skits to replace most of the Maggid for the second night seder. Last year we did the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" skit and this year we did the Sherlock Holmes skit. Out kids and guests in their late teens and early 20's especially enjoyed reading the parts (with dramatic voices and accents), but everyone at our seders enjoyed the skits including a middle-aged friend who is a rabbi (former congregational "pulpit rabbi", now hospital chaplain). Because the skits refer to the important elements of the seder and the story of the Exodus in a very different context and with a lot of humor, I think it enables people familiar with the traditional seder text to see those things in a new way. Definitely better than reading the same old text for the second night in a row (I especially dislike the haggadot with the archaic English translations). And for our guests who are less familiar with the regular seder, I think these skits are more accessible than the long drawn out stories of Talmudic rabbis using word play to determine the number of plagues.

Initially, my college-aged daughter was very resistant to the idea of of using an alternative text. But then she and her two friends of the same age at the seder really enjoyed the skit. Now she has been inspired enough that she's thinking of helping to write our own original skit with a theme such as Star Trek or based on a musical.

We are planning to continue to use skits from this book or our own versions for second night seders in the future. We haven't tried one of the skits from "Passover Parodies" with songs yet. I'm thinking that if we do that, I'll send out YouTube links to the songs are parodied in advance of the seder so that people can become familiar with the tunes.

Yes, Its OK to laugh at the Seder Table! Telling the Passover Story can actually be Fun!

This one was a winner for our family! We have older children and college students who have been through the Maggid section of many haggadahs over the years, they KNOW the story. We decided to supplement the Maggid section of our haggadah with three of these Passover "Spiels" and did we ever have fun! I didn't know if our boys would find them corny or funny, but the verdict is in: hilariously funny! The insider jokes on the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Voegyptian Poetry anyone?) was the perfect combination of Seder Story and Douglas Adams. While we don't do much leaning on pillows to show that we are "reclining and at ease," these little plays gave us a spirit of ease that made us feel like the "free men" we are supposed to be celebrating. Also, this allowed the story telling of Maggid to be interactive, not just a pushed outwards recitation of the same repetitive narrative that the kids could say in their sleep after all these years. This mixed it up, they didn't know what was coming next, so they were engaged and interested (and giggling!) - our boys declared it the most fun seder ever. Now that's the way to tell a story folks!

Well, that takes care of our seders for the next decade....

As other reviewers have written, these are clever, funny, innovative, and a wonderful addition to a seder. Brief introductions before each piece give a bit of serious commentary (e.g. noting how Casablanca is the Exodus story). The song parodies are especially well done. We used Pharoah's version of "When I Was A Lad", with an enthused group joining in on the chorus lines, e.g. "He polished up her sandals so carefullee/That now he is the Pharoah of the dynasty".

Another reviewer said the plays were better suited for adults. Some might be, but others--like Harry Potter and the Deathly Horseradish--would be a great multigenerational fit.

The author is clear and thorough throughout, supplying check-lists for supplies, equipment and materials; detailed building instructions and descriptions of the genuine (as opposed to fanciful) effects of nuclear weapons. There is also a valuable discussion of the purchase and use of potassium iodide compounds for protection of the thyroid gland from absorption of radioiodine. Finally, detailed plans and instructions are provided for the construction and use of a home made fallout meter(!) to indicate radiation levels. (It is a lot more accurate than many of the over-priced, defective-or-uncalibrated war-surplus "Geiger counters" on the market!)

The 2001 edition contains a new chapter on the hazards of trans-Pacific fallout, which could drift eastward to the U.S. mainland from a nuclear conflict in Asia. (Such as India vs. Pakistan, or a North Korean nuclear attack on the South or Japan.) There is also a new appendix detailing the persuasive medical and scientific evidence that low levels of ionizing radiation below a certain threshold do no harm to humans or other forms of life, or their descendants. In fact, it may make them healthier. (Far from being crackpot, this concept is known in Biology as "hormeisis" and is discussed in a recent article in DISCOVER magazine; see "Is Radiation Good for You?", DISCOVER Vol. 23 No. 12, December 2002.) This should help to dispel the superstition that radiation is some sort of magic poison, and that any amount is deadly.

Anyone not living in a fool's paradise realizes that the chance of a nuclear detonation in an American city is probably higher now than it ever was when the United States and Soviet Union were locked in mutual stand off. Nuclear deterrence may have worked even on hardened Soviet or Chinese apparatchiks; but to depend on it alone now against psychopaths and apocalyptic fanatics is to invite hideous disaster.

Say that again, 70 years, with how intellectual property is freely available on the internet, and the fact that many smaller countries now have the bomb, its only a matter of time before the people that really, really hate America get one smuggled into the USA and detonate it in New Yord City, DC or LA or Dallas or some place where it will have maximum terror. When that happens you are going to wish you had this book in your hands and ready to follow its instructions for a radiation shelter, because a family can quickly make a radiation shelter in the back yard, even in the house itself, with the proven instruction in this book.

When everyone else is going to be wondering if they are safe, you will know that you are safe and as we said earlier, how to construct a radiation fall out meter is included in this book, and it does not use any electricity. I'm serious. Its called the Kearny Fallout Meter (KFM) and it works on basic physics. This book is also available on kindle on Amazon but if are reading this before a disaster, you really want to have a hard copy of it on hand and ready to go.

Couldn't be better!

Many books on the nuclear threat are fear-mongering, shallow and written with a political twist. This book is the complete opposite.

It deals with the survival challenges after a massive nuclear war with Russia, but it can be applied to any nuclear emergency. Some of the things covered are:

- Myths and facts about nuclear bombs.

- Mental preparations.

- Evacuation considerations.

- Building fallout shelters.

- How to build a radiation meter from household items.

- How to construct a shelter ventilator.

- Nutritional requirements, processing foods in primitive conditions, food storage matters and cooking methods.

- Surviving without doctors, the proper use of potassium iodide, obtaining antibiotics.

The style is simple, straightforward and practical. This manual is superb.

This is a must read for anyone interested in what a nuclear blast would do. Also have very detailed instructions on how to protect your self from the blast and what to do after. In the place the world seems to be at now, I would highly recommend this book to interested people. Not as dry as I thought it would be either.
