The book is the unofficial history of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints in the Samoan Islands including Savai'i, Upolu, Tutuila, and Manu'a from 1862 to 2005 This publication is an updated and expanded version of the book, Samoa Apia Mission History, 1888-1983 which commemorated missionary work and Church growth prior to the dedication of the first temple in 1983. Included along with the somewhat impersonal elements of the Church's history in Samoa are over 200 personal narratives, which reveal a wide range of thoughts, feelings, and experiences of some of the 6,000 plus individuals who have served missions and some of the nearly 900 individuals who have taught in Church schools in Samoa. The unique island contact and people involved in this service are also illustrated through over 650 color, sepia tone, black and white historical photos, diagrams, and paintings. Names of over 7,000 missionaries of the Church school educators are included in the appendices along with individuals and couples who presided over the mission since 1888. All the pages in the book are visually enhanced with full color renderings of Samoan cultural artifacts and maps of Savai'i, Upolu, Tutuila, and Manu'a. It is hoped that this book will provide a memorable experience to the reader, and instill a greater sense of the work of the Master in Samoa and all the world.

Beautiful. Stunning. Breathtaking.

I ordered this book almost completely unaware of what it actually was. I literally gasped when I opened the package. This book is a huge, full color, detailed history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the wonderful Polynesian Island of Samoa. It includes information on the early and recent missionaries and members. They literally "Built the Kingdom" of God in Samoa through serving, teaching the gospel, building and rebuilding the temple, and educating the people. If you don't have this book, it is a treasure and I recommend it 100% :)

I was overwhelmed by what I received. I didn't realize this book was available but after I saw it I thought I would check on Amazon and there it was. How exciting it and when it arrived it was almost in perfect condition. Thank you very much!!!!!!!

Enjoyed it very much. Being a New Zealander living in Australia, I have a proud LDS heritage that sprung from the work of these missionaries. I even learnt more of my culture through this book.
