About the Author
Brian Brunckhorst entered the laundry business when he and his wife purchased their first laundromat, Advantage Laundry, in 2003. Eight years later, Brian is an industry veteran dedicated to teaching other coin laundry entrepreneurs best practices and strategies to improve operations through his industry resources, www.laundromatinsider.org, and www.buyalaundromat.com. Brunckhorst and his wife currently own and manage Advantage Laundry's four San Francisco Bay area locations. Prior to entering the laundry business, Brunckhorst leveraged his technical skills working as an engineer at a variety of high-tech companies in Silicon Valley. Using his technical knowledge to his advantage, Brunckhorst has incorporated equipment with controls that enable him to effectively run his stores remotely. In addition to a more flexible schedule, these controls allow him to diagnose and deal with equipment issues before they become problems, accurately measure machine generated revenue and monitor store traffic and coin boxes for added security. Brunckhorst is widely respected as a coin laundry expert and is very active in the Coin Laundry Association (CLA). He was a featured panelist at the semi-annual Clean Show tradeshow, was elected to the board of directors of the Golden State Coin Laundry Association and presented the "Design to Sell" seminar at the CLA's 2010 Educational Conference in Baltimore, MD. Brunckhorst also co-authored a book titled, "Seize Your Opportunities - How to Live Your Life Without Limits," and is now releasing his latest book, "Secrets of Buying and Owning a Laundromats."

Want tips on due diligence & valuation of laundromats? You won't find much here...

I purchased this item recently since a colleague of mine has asked me to co-invest in a couple of potential laundromat transactions. This book is well-written and covers a lot of relevant topics (e.g., selecting equipment, store layouts). However, for a book that claims to be about the buying and owning of laundromats, there is very little information provided relative to the buying process.
If you are looking for information about how to analyze a potential laundromat acquisition, such as typical due diligence, how to come up with a valuation, etc... you will not find that information in this book. Instead, you are directed to the author's web page where you can allegedly purchase a separate product that covers that topic. (However, as of the date of this writing, the link to that product on his web page is disabled so there is no way to purchase it).
With so little useful information regarding due diligence or valuation, I find this book to be only somewhat useful overall, hence the 3-star rating. And I was disappointed to learn that the book directs you to buy yet another product from the author to get basic information about buying a laundromat - information that, I'm sure, many readers would expect to find within the book.

Good Intro Book

This book is a good introduction. It's a little expensive, but any book is worth it if you are investing in a Laundromat. I think he doesnt get into too much depth b/c he wants you to want to buy his "Own a Laundromat Teleseminar CD set" for $300.

a good choice

I've just recently became a laundromat owner and still found this book very helpful, I liked his insights on how to find the best deal on new equipments and store layout.
Come to think of it, if I would have read this before we bought our store, we could have done better on the valuation of the store and paid the seller less. I would recommand this to all prospective laundromat buyers as this book offers a great blue print for things you need to know and watch out for; for existing laundromat owners, it never hurts to find out how others are (or will be) running the business...
